The Story Behind Baldsy
Hey there! I'm Anya, the founder of Baldsy.
In the midst of battling aggressive chemotherapy and immunotherapy for triple negative breast cancer, Baldsy was born. Diagnosed in August 2023 and in treatment until February 2024, I found solace in my trucker hats once my hair fell out. They were breathable and comfy – a must during those grueling sessions.
One day, while sitting in chair 9 during an infusion, I scribbled down, I'm so f*ckn tired," followed by, "I just left chemo, leave me alone." Not sure how to share these feelings, I visited a local embroidery shop with cool a$$ trucker hats, and Baldsy was born!
Hair loss is a common side effect of cancer treatments, but to me, being bald is a blessing. I embraced it and wanted others to feel the same. My hats are a way to express what words sometimes can't – letting family, friends, and strangers know the harsh reality of this journey. Plus, I had to stay strong for my beautiful family.
I'm thrilled to share that as of March 2024, I'm in remission. My hair is growing back, but I'll always be BALDSY at heart!
Spot a smiley face? That means it’s a piece I love the most, a tribute to my long-time affection for smiley faces. A gentle reminder to smile through the bullsh*t and win the fight.
Welcome, Baldie Baddies!
